Well, my game should be in my mailbox tomorrow. So I'll talk about Mafia in this response paper. My initial reaction is that it was very disapointing. It took forever to install, and when you finally get to play it, it does live up to the wait it took. The first mission was just losing some bad guys that are following you while you're in your car. Not to exciting for being in the mob. Then, in the second mission, you have to drive people around in a taxi. That's it. You had no choice even who you picked up or where you went, everything was very linear. On top of just being able to drive the people around, you had to go real slow in a 1920's car, and you couldn't even run a red light or you'd have to start all over again. And the destinations were minutes away from each other. As in the Deus Ex article, some things are realistic, but realistic isn't always a good thing if it's not a simulation that we expect. Those two boards are all I played, but like a good book, a video game should capture the attention of the gamer relatively fast. Now they lost my attention, and I doubt I'll ever bother playing it again despite shelling out the fifty dollars for it.
